Here it goes. Three weeks ago my sister-in-law, whom I live with as well as my brother, lost her wedding band and her engagement diamond. Instead of taking responsibility for her problem she went to a tarot card reader to find answers. The tarot card reader proceeded to tell her that I stole them, took them over the New York or New Jersey border and pawned them. The biggest shock to me is that she believes this b.s. story. The two of them look at me like a piece of trash, even though they say the believe me when I plead to them that I did not steal those rings. I am at a total loss here. I don鈥檛 even believe in tarot cards, and this proves my assumptions are correct. Has anybody ever had something like this happen to him or her, and if so what am I supposed to do? My family life will be forever severely tarnished if this is never resolved. I thought I would go see this tarot card reader and confront her, but she won鈥檛 see me. This is absolutely ridiculous, what do I do?A false tarot card reading has ruined my family life. What am I supposed to do?
I don't believe this has anything to do with the validity of tarot reading or the psychic industry at all. Instead of a tarot reader, you could substitute a therapist/religious advisor/talking dog....you get the picture. The real issue is that your sister-in-law and brother seem to want to drive you out, and are willing to either believe an outrageous story---or maybe even concoct one.
In the consultation, your sister-in-law probably fed the tarot reader enough information to make it a plausible story about you. It could've been as innocuous as the tarot reader saying, ';it was taken by someone who is always around your home'; Your sister-in-law ';Yes! My husband's sister!'; And then the rest of the story unfolds where there is no way of proving it or disproving it until the rings turn up. Another scenario is that your sister-in-law already had decided it was you and pretty much went to the tarot reader for validation, ';hearing'; only anything that supported blaming you.
I don't think the false tarot card reading has ruined your family life--the blame falls on your sister-in-law and to a lesser extent your brother for allowing this to have happened. Don't bother confronting the tarot reader--next time, it'll be something coming to your sister-in-law in a dream, or aliens from outer space.
But do make sure that you do SOMETHING, like consult a lawyer or even a private investigator--anything to show that you don't take serious accusations like this lying down. And definitely remember that you are the wronged one here. Stop pleading--YOU'RE the one that they should be pleading for forgiveness from. The rest of the family may even be indignant on your behalf--after all, you were called a THIEF! And your sister-in-law should have defended you! What's up with that?
By the way, most professional tarot readers follow a code of ethics precisely to guard against this type of situation. So either this tarot reader was not unethical or your sister-in-law went in already believing what she wanted to believe.A false tarot card reading has ruined my family life. What am I supposed to do?
What is ridiculous is that your sister in law went to the reader in the first place. I read tart cards once just for money and for gosh sake it is stupid for anyone to put any money and belief in them at all. She would of been better to of kept looking for the rings and not wasted her time and money and that crap.
You have pleaded your case, and they said they believed you, you need to stop the cycle of the suspicion and the lies. Now is the time to be quite and let the healing take place.
Contact the authorities and file a slander suit against the reader. Otherwise, move on with your life. If your family is going to believe a tarot card reader over you, they probably aren't people you want to be all that close to. Who knows what else they would blame on you as scapegoat.
Call a lawyer! Press slander/libel charges. Alternatively, you could go to another tarot reader, and then (mis)construe his or her reading to mean whatever you want it to mean - something along the lines of, 'the person who did the first tarot reading is a servant of evil/the dark side/a democrat/whatever'. You could also find an experienced practicioner of white magick to help turn the tide. If none of this works, try your mob contacts around NYC.
use this as evidence in the growing backlash against tarotists and psychics.
read my best answer here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
and get your family to do that as well.
now, it won't take much, but you need to do it gently, because you have to take their sense of self-worth into account. don't objectify them by their belief in the bullshit that is the WHOLE OF TAROT/PSYCHIC INDUSTRY. just tell them you love them as whole human beings, just like you did before this schit started, and also say this one little thing needs to change please, preferably sooner than later!
and refer back to the things i said in that best answer, or your own thinking/realisations on that matter, preferably!
best of luck,
sad to hear this, it's one of the worst i've ever heard.
just goes to show, psychich ability is the oldest scam huh?

Sorry you have to put up with this garbage.
I don't think it's the tarot card reader that's the problem (although she is a problem waiting to happen to others); the main problem is that your relatives whom you live with believed her in the first place.
They must think pretty poorly of you, if your entire history with them is tossed out the window based on the word of a stranger without any proof whatsoever. It just stinks that you had to find it out in this way.
Any resolution has to happen with your brother and sister-in-law. I'd say maybe a ';final discussion'; on the matter is due, where you basically set the record straight for them, say their distrust on a stranger's word really hurt you, and things aren't right between you.
Whatever their response, you simply have to decide whether it's worth moving out or whether you'll just suck it up and keep treating them normally until everyone gets over it.
Over time, if they really believe you, the situation will get better. If they don't believe you, you'll see the tension grow, and then it might be time to say ';sayonara'; and hit the road.
(But I'd advise you to, uh, confer with your Magic 8-Ball first. Sigh.)
There is not much you can do. Be yourself, spend time and energy regaining your brother's and sinster in Law's confidence. Let go of the freak tarot card person, they are ancillary. Work hard and be good, and that is the most you can do in this life.
I agree with the other posts - I would call a lawyer. After dealing with that; even though they are family - if they are going to believe a tarot card reader over you, then do you really want to be in that family anyway? I would take legal action, give your family an ultimatum, and then take it from there.
