Absolutely true.

One obvious example is oxygen in the atmosphere: Oxygen is a very reactive element, and is not normally found in elemental form, as it forms oxides with other elements (like iron oxide, carbon dioxide, etc.)

It is the presence of life, and specifically the action of photosynthesis, which has liberated the oxygen to become so abundant in our atmosphere.

As a side-effect, reducing the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere has dramatically cooled the earth by reducing the ';greenhouse'; action of CO2.

Presence of life changed the condition of the weather; the quality of water; and the concentration of gases in the atmosphere. Presence of life tend to kill life itself. Silly..
